Lasting change for children and families happens when we work together. For this reason, Child Action partners with child care advocacy coalitions across Sacramento and beyond to strengthen child care systems, advance equity, and support the workforce. As a result, by joining forces with parents, providers, and advocates, these coalitions ensure that community voices shape the policies and resources that impact us all.
Local & Regional Coalitions
We work alongside local and regional partners to strengthen early learning, support families, and advocate for fair and equitable child care in Sacramento and beyond.
Child Action staffs this child care advocacy coalition with partners like First 5 Sacramento, YMCA, SETA, and others. Together we advocate for affordable, joyful, and equitable early learning. Moreover, we support family choice, value educators as professionals, and promote high-quality, culturally responsive programs that nurture children’s growth.
Through our partnership with the City of Sacramento, we joined this national initiative. It builds understanding of strong early childhood foundations, highlights local ecosystems, and provides expert guidance. The NLC Early Learning Cohort also fosters peer learning and community engagement to advance equity.
The Sacramento County Children’s Coalition is a Board of Supervisors–appointed body. It assesses the needs, evaluates services, and makes recommendations to improve child, youth, and family well-being. Committees focus on preventing abuse, overseeing protective systems, and advancing policies through research and advocacy.
As co-leads of the Northern Directors Group (NDG), we work with agencies across Northern California on child care policy. With decades of experience, we focus on good stewardship, innovative practices, and strong support for families and providers.
Statewide Coalitions
We actively engage in child care advocacy coalitions focused on state legislative, policy, and budget issues. Through these partnerships, we ensure Sacramento’s families and providers have a strong voice in shaping California’s early learning system.
EveryChild California – ECE Voices is an advocacy network where educators push for improvements in early learning. Child Action participates in advocacy days and serves on the Board. In addition, ECE Voices provides resources, training, and events to support educators’ voices in shaping policy and budgets.
Since 1977, TFC has strengthened families through child care access and wraparound supports. Moreover, we partner through their Public Policy Committee and Board of Directors, supporting advocacy days and legislative visits to advance equity and self-sufficiency.
This statewide children advocacy coalition advocates for budget investments that prioritize the highest-need children. Guided by families and professionals, it advances anti-racist, equity-focused policies. Therefore, the Early Care & Education Coalition envisions justly compensated educators and inclusive, high-quality programs for all children.
