The Support That Helps a Center Continue
A visit to Inspiring Beginnings revealed how child care subsidies help families maintain care and support the center’s operating costs.
After visiting Inspiring Beginnings for Read Across America, the director, Josie, gave me a tour of the facility and spoke openly about the stress both the center and families experienced when they first learned about the potential disenrollments Child Action families were facing.
She also shared how relieved everyone felt once the most recent update was released notifying parents and providers that families will continue receiving services.
Josie mentioned that because the facility is older, they do not qualify for food programs since they do not have a commercial kitchen with the required piping and ventilation. As a result, they rely heavily on Child Action subsidies to help cover meal costs, which total about $600 per week.
Josie emphasized how vital this support is for both the families they serve and for sustaining their program. Josie expressed sincere gratitude for Child Action and thanked our agency for participating in Read Across America.
