In December, I traveled to Kerala, India, with my mom and brother. My dad had gone earlier in the year. It was a long journey, but it was definitely worth it.

I visited my grandma on my mom’s side and my grandpa on my dad’s side. My mom’s cousin—my favorite aunt—was also there with her husband and her six-year-old son, and I loved spending time with all of them.

Kerala was full of beauty and energy. I did lots of shopping and enjoyed many delicious foods, especially home-cooked meals. One of the highlights of the trip was staying at a resort on Munroe Island with family. Taking boat rides through the Kerala backwaters was beautiful, with calm water and lush green surroundings. In the evenings, we played cards, relaxed, and enjoyed being together.

Being with my family means so much to me, and I am truly grateful that I got to spend this time with them. The trip reminded me how important family is and how special it is to create memories together.
