This past June, I had the opportunity to celebrate my sister’s wedding on the beautiful island of Kauai, Hawaii. It was an unforgettable trip filled with family, friends, and plenty of laughter. Of course, having a sister who works in communications meant I was unofficially promoted to personal photographer for the week. I spent much of the wedding with a shot list in one hand and enthusiastically telling my family to line up and stay on standby for photos. While I may have been in full content mode, it was incredibly rewarding to help capture memories that our family will cherish for years to come.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was slowing down and embracing island time. I’m naturally an early riser, so most mornings started before sunrise with a workout, followed by time at the beach. It felt like every day held three different adventures, and I loved making the most of every moment.

I also had one unexpected adventure: a wild chicken somehow decided I was its sworn enemy. For nearly two weeks, it seemed to appear every time I left our condo, usually chasing me down the path. It was terrifying in the moment but hilarious to laugh about afterward.

Kauai completely stole my heart, and I already can’t wait to return.
