As a single mother of twins, Jacklyn describes how child care assistance helped her continue her education and career in mental health.
I unexpectedly became a single mom of twins while working full time and going to school. There was no way that I was going to be able to afford child care while still attempting to obtain a degree that would afford me the opportunity to make even half enough money to afford child care costs.
Through Child Action I was able to continue working the job in my desired career field (mental health) and continue school so that I can not only break generational curses in my family but also show my daughters that through support and perseverance, you can accomplish your dreams.
Despite the obstacles that were in my path, I had resources available to help and support my family so that in the future I can be a part of the change to make child care accessible to all.
The early child care center my children go to is clean, safe, and the workers treat my daughters with kindness, love, and allow them to discover autonomy and independence through play.
