Blake Johnson is the Chief Strategy Officer at Child Action, where he oversees the Communications, Government Affairs, Business and Fund Development, Research and Data, and Human Resources divisions. In this role, he drives initiatives that expand access to affordable child care, strengthen the workforce, and promote policies that empower families and communities.
With over 14 years of experience in government affairs and advocacy, he has helped secure historic investments in education, affordable housing, and economic development, and championed legislation benefiting foster and homeless youth.
Blake previously advised California State Treasurer John Chiang, State Treasurer Fiona Ma, and State Superintendent Tony Thurmond. He also served as the Superintendent’s designee to CalSTRS, the largest education-only pension fund in the world.
He serves on the Greater Sacramento Economic Council Competitiveness Council and is a board member of Stanford Sierra Youth & Families and the PBS KVIE Community Advisory Board. He previously served on the City of Sacramento’s Stadium Area Financing Authority and the Inclusive Economic and Community Development Investment Committee.
