Iris Murillo is a strategic communications executive with more than 20 years of experience helping nonprofit organizations, public agencies, and mission-driven leaders leverage communications to drive organizational growth, influence public policy, and strengthen community impact. Her career spans affordable housing, homelessness, early care and education, and civic engagement, where she has consistently aligned communications strategy with executive priorities to advance meaningful change.

As Director of Communications at Child Action, Iris serves as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, leading brand strategy, executive positioning, stakeholder engagement, and enterprise-wide communications. She built the organization’s Communications Department from the ground up, establishing its strategic vision, operational framework, and collaborative culture while recruiting and developing a high-performing team of creative professionals. Under her leadership, communications has evolved into a trusted strategic partner supporting organizational growth, advocacy, fundraising, and public engagement.

Throughout her career, Iris has cultivated partnerships across government, education, business, philanthropy, media, and the nonprofit sector to expand organizational influence and create lasting community impact. She has led transformative initiatives including organizational rebranding, website modernization, executive thought leadership, and annual impact reporting.
