Director of Community Services

Kelli Newman serves as Director of Community Engagement, leading initiatives that strengthen community partnerships, expand access to resources, and advance our mission to support child care providers and families. With more than a dozen years serving the child care community, Kelli brings expertise in program administration, stakeholder engagement, and data-informed decision-making. She built meaningful partnerships and delivered programs that improved outcomes for children and families throughout Sacramento County.

During her tenure at Child Action, Kelli has helped expand the Community Engagement department’s size, scope, and impact. She leads the department in addressing broad child care concerns while identifying localized community needs. Under her leadership and guided by the idea that sustainable change comes when communities are empowered to shape their own future, Child Action now offers quality supports to Sacramento’s child care providers in five languages, is growing a network for families through the Parent Café model, and plays an active role in strengthening the child care infrastructure.

Kelli served on the board of the California Child Care Resource and Referral Network and as Assistant Chair for the Sacramento County Local Child Care Planning Council. She attended Graceland University and earned her teaching credential from CSU, Sacramento.
