Father Family Event Brings Together 425 Community Members for a Day of Literacy and Fun
Child Action was thrilled to welcome approximately 425 attendees to our recent Father Family Event. Despite the warm weather, families came out in full force, creating an energetic and joyful atmosphere filled with laughter, learning, and connection.
Attendees enjoyed a wide variety of engaging activities designed to bring families together while promoting literacy and positive family engagement. From interactive games and hands-on activities to spin-the-wheel prizes, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Exciting prizes included Sacramento Republic FC tickets, Fairytale Town tickets, and other family-friendly giveaways.
A special highlight of the event was a visit from Mayor Garrett Gatewood of the City of Rancho Cordova, who joined families in celebrating the importance of literacy, family engagement, and community connections.
Families also had the opportunity to connect with local community partners, including representatives from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the Sacramento Metro Fire Department, who helped make the event both educational and engaging for children and families.
One of the most meaningful aspects of the event was ensuring that every child left with a backpack filled with culturally diverse books, helping to inspire a love of reading and support literacy development at home. Families also enjoyed a Book Walk featuring books generously donated by the Sacramento Literacy Foundation, creating an interactive literacy experience that encouraged children and caregivers to read, move, and learn together.
The event also featured a popular Cake Walk, with prizes made possible through generous donations from Child Action staff and Sprouts Farmers Market of Rancho Cordova. Their contributions helped create a fun and memorable experience for participating families.
The event’s success was made possible through the support of our dedicated staff and valued community partners. Their collaboration helped create a memorable experience for hundreds of families and reinforced the importance of community partnerships in supporting children’s growth and development.
We are grateful to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success. Child Action looks forward to continuing to offer engaging, age-appropriate, literacy-focused events that strengthen family bonds, promote early learning, and create meaningful opportunities for families to learn and grow together.
