Cassandra Lichnock is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS), where she leads the development and execution of strategic initiatives, operational excellence, and collaboration with the Teachers’ Retirement Board. Her leadership emphasizes modernizing systems and processes, advancing sustainability and diversity efforts, and shaping organizational culture in a post-pandemic environment.
Previously, Cassandra served as CalSTRS’ Chief Operating Officer, overseeing divisions including Benefits & Services, Public Affairs, Technology Services, and Audit Services. She began her CalSTRS career as Human Resources Executive Officer, directing strategic planning and HR operations.
A California native, Cassandra holds a B.A. in Management from Golden Gate University, an Executive Certificate in Technology Operations and Value Chain Management from MIT, and certificates in HR Management and Labor Management Relations.
